Historical Characters

Isa al-Isa

Isa al-Isa

Al-Isa was a Palestinian Greek-orthodox journalist and intellectual. In 1911 together with his cousin, he founded the newspaper Filastin in Jerusalem. The paper represented Arab Nationalism and opposition to Zionism.

FROM THE FILM …

al-Isa (Arabic): They sell their father’s inheritance for monetary gain, and you can see the treachery in their faces. We need to know the names of the traitors so everyone will know who the liars and occupiers are.

al-Isa (Arabic): We are a nation threatened with the Zionist tide sweeping Palestinian lands. Let our men arise and unite against the settlers who fight us for our very existence.
