  • Vintage Cup & Saucer, Espresso Demitasse,  Floral Blue & Orange with Wheat Sprigs, German Porcelain, Vintage Drinkware, Collectible Coffee Cups, ((Discontinued)
  • Made in: Germany, GDR
  • Vintage: 1970's - 1980's
  • Details:  A beautiful set of espresso cups with saucers from the fine porcelain house, Colditz.  This set features multiple flowers primarily in Blue and Orange with golden wheat stalks.  The saucers are rimmed with embossed half moons on the top border, could even be described as "little fish scales", or basketweave.  The cup has the same scales on the border.  Both pieces have the  Colditz mark "CP" plus "Made in German Democratic Republic".  The saucer is numbered 84 and the cup is 47, we're guessing those are mould numbers.  Based on the mark, we are able to date these from the 1970's to the 1980's.  We could not find the name of this pattern, possible it was not named.  Excellent hostess gift, maybe add a bag of some wonderful espresso beans.  We also carry the matching little creamer which is the perfect size for these demitasse.  If you would like the two cups plus the creamer, (last photo), we offer a 10% discount for all 3 items.  Please Contact Us for discount code.
  • Materials:  Porcelain
  • Dimensions:  Cups: 2.25 inches Tall, 2.5 inches in Diameter (top opening).  Saucers: 4.5 inches in Diameter
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Good Condition.  There is a tiny chip on the rim of one saucer. Otherwise there are no scratches or crazing on any of these pieces.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear  and imperfections.

Colditz is a small town in the district of Leipzig, in Saxony, Germany. It is known for Colditz Castle, as well as White Colditz clay (coincidentally, same clay used by the famous Meissen porcelain factory).  In 1804 Thomsberger & Hermann established a ceramics factory.  In 1969 the company changed names to VEB Porzellancombinat Colditz, due to the communist regime having opened a porcelain factory years before with the VEB name, we guess they were incorporated, but unsure what actually happened.  After the fall of the Berlin wall, Colditz was privatized again, but unfortunately  they went bankrupt in 1998.
